I recently regaled my husband with the story of how I once, many years ago, installed a dimmer switch in my old San Francisco. I was super proud of myself, until a good friend alerted me of my good fortune to have survived it – it seems I never powered off the fuse box during the procedure. It was sheer luck I didn’t turn myself into a piece of toast.
Ah, memories.
If only the Internet were more than a bunch of chat rooms back then. If only there were handy sites in existence like Howsed, I could have avoided at least one particular near-miss.
Howsed is a self-described ‘DIY Home Improvement Blog’. It contains all sorts of clear, instructional posts, like Adding an Electric Outlet, Installing a Dishwasher, and Caulking Like a Pro. I’m happy to leave the big stuff to the professionals, but it’s comforting to know I can cover the small stuff now and then without risking bodily harm.
