10 Storage Tips for Your Bedroom
Thursday, May 27, 2010

Ahhhh, the bedroom. It's your sanctuary, the place where photos and favorite memorabilia collect on your shelves, your bureau, your nightstand, your...wait. How the heck did my bedroom get so cluttered?

Here, ten smart ways to find storage you didn't even know you had.

#1: Store out-of-season clothes in unused suitcases.

#2: Use cabinets for nightstands, or ones with drawers.

#3: Use a tall armoire or country cupboard to hide a TV or audio equipment.

#4: Create a cozy recess for your bed by surrounding the head of the bed with deep cabinetry or shelves, and attach swing-arm sconces for reading in bed.

#5: Consider a platform bed with storage drawers.

#6:
Hang guitars, model boats or antique toys as wall displays.

#7: Create an extra storage closet under sloping eaves by angling off a room corner or between studs over a doorway.

#8: Build a Dutch-style “closet bed” for a child to nest in, with interior shelves for toys and drawers below.

#9: Turn an office into an instant guest room with a Murphy wall bed.

#10:
Invest in a high-tech disguise for the TV. Consider a mirror that "morphs" into a high-definition TV. Or a TV that rises from a chest at the foot of the bed at the touch of a button!
