Canopy Beds
Canopy Beds

Fun fact: canopy beds first came into existence for practical purposes, not decorative ones. Back in medieval times, noble folks’ “attendants” often slept in the same room with them and the canopy was the only thin layer of privacy they had.

Today, thank goodness, the canopy bed lives on for mainly aesthetic reasons. There is something undeniably lush about them – they are grand in scale and the billowing fabric feels opulent. Of course, because of their size and dimensions they don’t work in all bedrooms.

We got on to thinking about them after coming across a photo of little Apple Martin’s room (that would be Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter, in case you were thinking of another Apple). She gets tucked in to this lovely and elegant canopy bed with hot pink accents during her summer vacations in the Hamptons. We like. We also like the others ones below. Take a look. Are you a fan?
