I’ve long been a fan of Blu Dot’s well-designed, reasonably-priced modern furniture (and was an early advocate of Blu Dot co-founder Charlie Lazor’s ingenious Flatpack House—www.flatpack.com). So it’s great to get a look at their new offerings, which debuted at this year’s International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in New York this spring.

The Minimista collection consists of an elegant trio of stainless steel-legged tables (side, coffee, and console) in three finishes: walnut, graphite on oak, or honed stone tops. Incredibly reasonable ($299-$599), these highly versatile pieces would look terrific in most any living room.

Blu Dot has also issued mirrors for the first time in their history, and they’re terrific. While I love ornate hanging mirrors whose frames feel as if they’ve been sprung from the Louvre, I’m also partial to simple and unadorned versions such as the full-length “Mirror Mirror” in walnut. Perfect for determining whether you’re the fairest of all before heading out to dinner. “Hang 1” would be ideal for an entryway or guest bath and it’s an absolute steal at $199.

Blu Dot also has a great affordable furniture line under their “too design” label for Urban Outfitters (www.urbanoutfitters.com). It features unique and inspired pieces like the Easy Reader side table, and the “In a Pinch” chair, both under $200!
