Design for Comfort and Joy
Thursday, June 17, 2010

Comfort is often thought of as a physical need. However, in the world of interior design, it’s imperative to think more broadly and reference its emotional perspective. Making your home your own begins with the essence of your personality. And when your personality is displayed in your home’s decor, you have a design that’s one of a kind. Here are three ways to do it.

1. Family Heirlooms

Turn your home into a treasure chest of your life's history. You'll smile in every room if you sprinkle cherished items throughout. Seeing these articles will automatically bring forth fond memories and transform your home into a place of joy.

2. Use a Cozy Color Pallete

There is much to be said about the combination of comfort and color. The most important of all is that the color pallet you choose should blend with your personality. Deliberate decisions like these will cause you to feel relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated.

3. Personal Pleasures

You don’t have to do much to make your home pleasant and pleasing. A fitting decal quote on a wall or beloved nickname on a pillow sets the tone for comfort, joy and fun.
