Mirrors. It’s easy to forget how nice they can look in a room. Perhaps because so many of us try to avoid them at all costs. But once in a while you’ll see an image of a beautiful mirror – often antique – and think, “Hmm, I should get one of those.”
A vintage mirror can be a wonderful replacement for a bathroom medicine cabinet. One can also work perfectly in the right entryway – great for that “last check” before you head out the door. And groups of mirrors -- matching or mismatched, both work – create a dramatic, artistic look on a room’s barest wall.
The not-so-secret magic of mirrors is that they reflect light, which makes a room feel brighter, and also give the illusion of depth and space if hung strategically.
You might want to consult your Feng Shui consultant before hanging one, as there are bad places to hang mirrors (if you’re into that sort of thing). Otherwise, make mental note that a mirror can serve the same purpose as a window, a piece of art, or a wall-hanging -- sometimes even better.
You don’t have to look *into* it, if you don’t want to.
