Do you ever find yourself browsing for real estate online? In other states? When you’re not really in the market for anything? We do, but we’re guessing it’s not just us -- because it’s really, really, fun.
Especially when you stumble across a listing like this.
This three-story, fully restored 1883 Victorian is in Scotland Neck, North Carolina. It's 4100 square feet, has seven fireplaces and is listed at $239,000.00. (Take that, Manhattan!) We’ve never even been to North Carolina, yet, somehow, we think we’d be quite happy here.

And how about that paint job? Attention to detail is paramount in resoring a registered historic home (as this one is), and clearly the owners here took that task seriously.
Which brings us to the other perk of browsing real estate listings: you can get a very good sense of what exterior and interior paints might look best on your own home. Do you own a Victorian that needs a touch up? A Spanish Eclectic? A Craftsman Foursquare? So does someone else, and you might just like their paint job better than your own.
But, if you like the whole house better, you’ll have to take that up with your family. Growers and Nomads can't help you there.
North Carolina, anyone?
