I once met a woman in New York City who, when redecorating her Greenwich Village apartment, decided to go with "Hampton’s Beach House" as her guiding design theme. She knew she felt happiest when she was at the beach, and she wanted that feeling all year round.
Well, today, June 26, for no single apparent reason, it feels particularly like summer around here. The day feels kind of joyous, breezy, silly, optimistic. And suddenly it occurred to us that painting a room the color of summer – a bedroom, perhaps, or a kitchen where the family gathers – might be a nice guiding principle for bringing joy, silliness and optimism into our everyday lives.
What color is summer to you?
Yellow, like the afternoon sun?
Bright pink, like a favorite sundress?
Green and blue, like the grass and the sky?
Something else?
