Aside, maybe, from the scent of brewing coffee in the morning, or sizzling bacon on a griddle, there is nothing that smells better – makes you feel more cozy and at-home – than the smell of a baking pie. This is a semi-proven fact (based on a sampling of 8 or 9 people we know who love pie).
This, we’ve concluded, is why Los Angeles chef and radio host Evan Kleiman is baking a pie (almost) every day and blogging about it. To date, she has 126 posts tagged “pie-a-day.”
There’s the Chocolate Espresso Pecan, the Classic Apple, the Nutella Pop Tart. And more. Lots more.
Once you start reading Kleiman's blog, it’s kind of hard to stop. Looking at the pictures somehow conjures the scents, which gives us that aforementioned cozy and at-home feeling. We should be following Evan Kleiman’s lead and baking more of them. Lots more of them.
Because food – and, arguably, pie in particular – is all about being at home. (Home, you might have noticed, is our favorite place.) Pie is grandma’s house, it’s mom’s kitchen, it’s our own messy countertop with flour strewn about. And above all else it’s sitting down at the table with the people we love and digging in.
Evan Kleiman is the host of “Good Food,” a show about cooking, ingredients, and the all-around pleasure of food. If you don’t live in the LA area, you can listen to the podcast, here.

The web-site is definitely full of great tips and also is actually quite interesting to browse through. Very well done!
