Our Favorite Rooms: Oui! Love It

Many of us grew up with the notion that in order for a bedroom to look "together" the headboard must match the bedside tables, the duvee should be puffy and patterned, and a bedskirt was a must. We have no truck with that – not all of us have the innate ability to make mix-n-match look like something better than a swap meet.

Enter Rubyellen – of the Cakies blog (found via Domestic Reflections). Here’s a woman who does not have that affliction.

This is her daughter’s room – which she whipped up herself. It’s a sweet and crafty mix of vintage (furniture), modern (floors) and handmade (blackboard!). I mean, really, have you ever seen a room so sweet? And French-feeling? There’s something about the vintage daybed and the handmade quilts and the crafty toys that is kid-like and sophisticated all at once. And not a lick of it was meant to match
