Rooms We Love: Monochromatic Chic
Friday, November 20, 2009

Some people have a gift for mixing a green plaid couch with orange floral curtains, tossing in an electric blue mohair rug and making it look like it was meant to be. Yet when others try this mix-n-match colors-and-patterns trick and it looks like a fabric store threw up on their living room floor.

Sorry, but it’s true.

If you suspect you might in the latter category of human (look at your wardrobe to decide; if you''re wearing solid, matching colors, it’s likely) it doesn''t mean you have to forego creating a stylish and chic interior decor.

Just choose everything in the same color, like these people did. We think of it as monochromatic chic – not an affliction to pattern. Choose a color that makes you happy, and take it from there.
