We found this fabulous shot on Design*Sponge. It's the Paris dining room of Frech PR agency owner Helena Amourdedieu, and it is just one of many wonderfully cool and whimsical rooms in Helena's home.
Here's what we love about it, in no particular order:
1) The patterns. Like that casually chic woman you see walking down the street, mixing her striped sailor shirt with lumberjack plaid and making it look effortless, such is this room. The wallpaper (hand-printed, Lene Toni Kjeld) looks retro and clean, and the tablecloth's bird pattern is bold and modern. They don't technically match at all, yet go perfectly together. Oh, the French.
2) The passthrough. When a galley-shaped kitchen has a clean, geometric passthrough like this, it becomes both functional and social. We love how this window to the kitchen connects the two rooms, and, presumably, the people in each when they are filled. It also looks really great.
3) The yellow lamp. A splash of unexpected color against this collection of shapes adds a playful punch. Just enough.
4) The wood floor. Tile or lenolium would cool this room down a lot. The wood floor warms the space up and makes it feel utterly livable.
