Seven Storage Tips for Your Kitchen
Thursday, December 24, 2009

Your closets, pantry and cabinets are stuffed. Where can you find more storage? Here are seven great solutions for the kitchen that you may not have considered.

#1: Find a niche…

• For big baskets, casseroles and vases that don’t fit anywhere else, on top of cabinets and below the ceiling (plus, it’s a good look).

• Between the side of an appliance or cabinet and the wall—perfect for sliding in oversize trays vertically.

#2: Add open shelves…

• Above a window or door for displays of collectibles or china.

• Across a window, clear plexiglass shelves are great for plants.

#3: Instead of a picture, hang a plate rack.

#4: Convert a high cabinet into an exposed wine rack.

#5: Attach a spice rack to the side of a cabinet near a preparation counter.

#6: To keep coffee mugs at hand, hang them by their handles from hooks attached to the bottom of an upper cabinet.

#7: Pull the knives off the counter and store them in a custom drawer (see image).
