It wasn’t so much spring cleaning, really, as a sanity saving project: I replaced all the mismatched, dry-cleaner promoting wire hangers in my closet and replaced them with the rounded, matching, plastic variety. Nothing fancy, but uniform. Light blue. Untangleable.
I also, since I was in there, tidied things up; I put the long-sleeved shirts in one section, the trousers in another. My jackets on the left and my dresses on the right. Without tossing a single item of clothing, I gave my closet (and as a result my over-cluttered brain) a makeover.
I’m so thrilled with the result, I practically can’t wait to get dressed every morning.
What used to be a grab-the-first-shirt I see situation is now a casually-browse-the-suddenly-functional-rack for just the right top situation. What used to be a clanging cacophony of metal hangers on metal bars is now more of a well-oiled swooshing.
It sounds silly, sure, and maybe even a wee bit obsessive compulsive, but taking the two hours it took to do this has paid me back in peace of mind. Really. And you can’t put a price tag on that.
You got the hangers, not you need more closet? No problem. California Closets will give you a free estimate.
