Steal This Style: Color Coordinated Bookshelves

My home office contains one entire wall of books.

My husband claims these books are arranged in some kind of logical order, but except for knowing our cookbooks are on a single shelf, I’m not sure I can crack the code.

So when I came across this collection on Flickr called “Rainbow of Books” [http://www.flickr.com/groups/96822943@N00/pool/page2/] I was delighted.

Color coordinating books may not be a replacement for the Dewey Decimal system, but it looks wonderful. And for people like me who, as they are scanning their un-alphabetized tomes, mumble things like “where is that short story collection… the one with the purple jacket?” it’s downright perfect.

As an experiment, I just stopped typing for a moment, turned around, and arranged this one shelf with blues and reds. It took three minutes. More elaborate examples from Flickr can be seen below.
