Steal This Style: Sweet Nothings

Think you need to mix, match, build and buy to upgrade your four-year-old's bedroom from "princess nursery" to "sophisticated little girl’s room?" Think again. White flooring, white paint, and a few simple accessories may well do the trick.

Steal This Style

  • Floors: Two choices: 1)Paint white over your existing hard-wood floors [CertaPro Painters], or lay down white glossy flooring over the top of them. [Floor Coverings International]
  • Walls: One-step satisfaction: Paint everything white. [CertaPro Painters]
  • Furniture: Start with what you've got around the house. A white chair from your dining room could be the perfect fit for this new spare palette. After that, do some thrifting, browse on Craigslist, take a trip to IKEA or your favorite furniture store and scout out white pieces. They don't all have to match -- mixing modern with vintage will give this room the look shown here. The white palette is what ties it all together.
