Propeller [propellermodern.com], a great modern furniture boutique here in San Francisco, recently asked three local designers to "create a more interesting, more functional, more beautiful place" to put a flat screen TV.
What a great idea. Because if ever there was a piece of furniture in need of a good rethink, it's the entertainment center. I shudder to think of some of the perfect-for-a-man cave-variety pieces I've had the displeasure of seeing, all glass and black metal.
It's bad enough that televisions have reached the epic proportions they have--must we be stuck with clunky credenzas for them? Admittedly, it's not easy to design around a TV: do you hide it? embellish it? complement it? But here are a few great options upon which to put your flat screen.
