Top Flight: Decorating by Theme
Wednesday, September 30, 2009

You love airplanes. Vintage airplanes in particular, with open cockpits, large propellers, and goggle-clad pilots. It’s the romance of the early years of flying that really gets you going -- that humans had such smarts and courage to soar through the air like birds is a constant source of amazement. Plus, the vehicles they built to travel in were technologically groundbreaking, and quite beautiful, too. The form, function and fearlessness inspires.

If this describes you, there are ways you can bring your love of aviation into your surroundings without being kitschy. And doing so might just inspire you to take flight every day (metaphorically, that is).

Vintage aviation posters, mounted and framed, serve as artwork and conversation pieces.

If you can get your hands on one, a mounted wooden propeller makes for striking thematic piece in an office or living room.

And decorating a kids room with an aviation theme is another way to express yourself while sharing your passion with your young child.
